Northlanders face power outages Tuesday morning amid subzero temps

Subzero temps caused power outages in the Northland Tuesday morning
More than 1,900 Lake Country Power customers were left without power for 6 hours. As of 9 a.m., this issue was resolved. Areas impacted include Ely, Tower, Soudan, Embarrass, Babbitt, and the surrounding areas.
The company says there was an issue with a 46K transmission that caused a sudden loss of service. Metal wires contract and get tight in the bitter cold, which caused the split.
Early Tuesday morning, crews from Lake Country Power and Minnesota Power worked to repair the transmission line.
