Saturday, The St. Patrick’s day festivities continued for those in Grand Rapids. United Way sponsored the Shamrock’n Brunch as a way to get the community together for some St. Patty’s Day fun.
United Way says that having events for the community to come together at is important, especially during the colder months.
“It’s really important for everyone to get together this time of year and just really keep those community connections alive. That’s what United Way is about, is fostering those community connections and really leveraging that to bring that to our own community. And so by us coming together when it’s cold that really keeps that spark alive for us”, says Tanis Henderson the United Way Board Member.
The event typically draws in approximately 150 adults and children, and raises more than $6,000 for united way’s community investment fund.
The bunch also acts as a way for the public to see the work United Way does first hand.
Tanis says, “I think as a board we really just want to show our commitment to the work that we do not only from our Board work and leadership but also a presences at events as much as we can.”
