Showcasing Native American authors during Heritage Month

In partnership with the 1854 Treaty Authority, Bois Forte Tribal Council and the Historic Union Depot Corporation is the presentation of Native American Heritage Day.
The event on November 18th is nationally recognized alongside Native American Heritage Month to celebrate local Native authors. The event showcased a range of Native American traditions.
That includes Native American themed food, a hand drummer as well as some activities for kids. The event features different speakers like Dr. Jill Doerfler as well as others who showcased their work.
Works presented ranged from children’s books, poetry to cook books and psychological thrillers.
The historical society says that they recently re-opened their Lake Superior Ojibwe exhibit.
