Soo Locks open for the 2023 navigation season

The Soo Locks opened for the first time this year as the Edwin H. Gott made it’s way through them at midnight.

The ship passed through the Poe Lock, kicking off the 2023 Navigation Season.

The Soo Locks enable travel between Lake Superior and the rest of the lower Great Lakes.

They are managed by the Detroit District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, who livestreamed the Edwin H. Gott as it passed through.
