Spring sports come with a side of snow

It is officially Spring and that means it is officially the start of Spring sports. However for many recreational outside sports such as baseball, softball and soccer, the fields are unrecognizable as they are still covered in snow.
“We’re a long ways away from being able to be outside. So we started practicing in the gym. All the local teams did yesterday. And I think probably we’re weeks, plural, away from being able to get outside and practice, much less play. I know we’ve got more snow in the forecast for today, so it’s going to be a big wait and see spring,” says Joe Wicklund, Denfeld Baseball coach.
So what is the alternative?
“Play or be patient there isn’t really a door number three. Once the weather lights up it won’t take much for us to kind of squeeze in baseball games with the benefits of having turf field like Wade Stadium, Proctor Superior,” finishes Wicklund.
Whatever the weather, players are ready to play. Warm times ahead hopefully.
