St. Cloud MN National Guard sending helicopters for Hurricane Helene aid
According to the Minnesota National Guard, the St. Cloud based C 2-211 General Support Aviation Battalion Company will send two cargo helicopters for Hurricane Helene relief.
The Helicopters are CH-47 “Chinook” cargo meant to carry commodities and personnel throughout disaster areas. Eleven soldiers will be activated for this mission.
Those soldiers will be there as soon as Friday and are expected to provide support for one week but their support may be extended.
A request from North Carolina officials through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact prompted Governor Tim Walz to authorize the Minnesota National Guard to send aid to disaster areas.
