St. Luke’s cookout to celebrate EMS Appreciation Week

St. Luke’s held its annual cookout to honor EMS professionals Thursday.

The event honors the critical and lifesaving work they do in our community. So in between saving lives, they were able to grab a quick bite.

ER Physician Jonathan Shultz says it’s a small thanks for the big job they do, “They work a hard shift, working days and working nights… and coming and going at all hours of the day and night. In the emergency department, they’re doing the same thing.”

There were plenty of smiles as folks picked up their food.

“I think it makes a difference. Everybody likes to be recognized,” Dr. Shultz tells us. The event coincides with EMS Appreciation Week.
