State agencies kick off 100 Safest Days campaign

Around Memorial Day, several state agencies are reminding folks of the importance of safe driving through the 100 Safest Days campaign.  Memorial Day often signifies the unofficial first day of summer and brings lots of vacation travel with the weekend. Organizations such as the State Patrol, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, AAA, Department of Public Safety and more are participating in the summer-long campaign.

Participating agencies met in Stillwater Tuesday afternoon to highlight more details of the campaign including education options and traffic enforcement on both land and water. According to state officials, the days between Memorial Day and Labor Day prove to be the deadliest days of the year for traffic accidents in Minnesota. In 2022, 38% of deaths from traffic accidents happened within the 100-day period.
