Down at the working waterfront, Congressman Pete Stauber received his ‘Legislator of the Year’ award from the Great Lakes Maritime Task Force.
This is for his work supporting the Great Lakes Navigation System. That includes advocating for funding for the new Soo lock and port grants. He told the group he is proud and honored to bring the award back to Washington.
It’s a miniature version of the Roger Blough, which Stauber traveled on in 2019 through the Soo locks.
The other two Minnesota lawmakers who’ve earned this award include the late Congressman Jim Oberstar and Senator Amy Klobuchar.
According to Stauber’s office, the Great Lakes Maritime Task Force has been proud to recognize members of the U.S. Great Lakes delegation since 1998.
