Stormy weather affecting the power grid

As of 10:30pm on Wednesday evening, Minnesota Power and East Central Energy are working to resolve over 40 power outages that affect over 800 customers. Outages affect Carlton, Pine, Itasca and Saint Louis counties in Minnesota and Douglas County Wisconsin.

Unfortunately, the Lake Country Power public facing outage viewer is having technical issues.

Lake Country Power tells us they had 154 outages over the course of the storm affecting nearly 9,000 Lake Country Power members across northeastern Minnesota late Wednesday afternoon. The largest outages from Lake Country Power were around Big Sandy Lake near McGregor, Lake Vermilion, Side Lake, Moose Lake, and others south of highway 169 between Grand Rapids and Hibbing.

As of 9:10 pm, Lake Country Power line crews have restored electric service to nearly 4,000 members, with roughly 5,000 still awaiting restoration.
