Structure fire reported in Thompson Township

A barn in Thompson Township is considered a total loss after the structure went up in flames on Tuesday afternoon.

The Carlton County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a structure fire at 44 E. Palkie Road at 2:55 P.M. on September 20th.

When officials arrived on the scene, they learned the homeowner was brining vegetation near the barn, which then spread.

The Carlton County Sheriff’s Office says no injuries were reported and the barn was not used to house animals.

The Esko Fire Department, Carlton Fire Department an Wrenshall Fire Department responded to contain the fire. The Cloquet Fire Department and Solway Fire Department were requested for additional water but was cancelled before arrival.

No foul play is expected.
