Superior man charged following weekend homicide

Charges have been filed in connection with a homicide from Sunday evening in Superior.

Aaron Donald Johnson has been charged with the following offenses: 1st-Degree Intentional Homicide, Burglary-Armed with Dangerous Weapon, and 1st-Degree Reckless Endangerment.

Johnson’s next court appearance is scheduled for October 16th at 4:00pm.

Authorities responded around 9:20 p.m. to the 2400 block of Ogden Avenue. A caller said that a man they knew was walking around their garage and shining a flashlight in the windows.

As officers arrived, they heard gunshots. They approached the garage and found a man lying on the floor with gunshot wounds. The caller was there trying to to help. Officers say the victim was shot multiple times and died from these injuries.

The suspect reportedly fled the scene and was apprehended hours later at an Iron River, Wisconsin residence. The Superior Police Department Emergency Response Team, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, and the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office responded.
