Suspect in custody after fleeing authorities, hitting squad car in Grand Rapids
A man is in custody after a police chase in Grand Rapids on Tuesday morning.
According to police, they were called out to a domestic disturbance on the 1400 block of SE 6th Avenue around 8:45am.
The caller had reported the suspect had been ramming their vehicle with his vehicle, while the caller was inside it.
When officers tried to stop him, he allegedly fled south on Highway 169 out of town, and then back north into Grand Rapids.
Spike strips helped slow him down. But the suspect still managed to hit an Itasca County Sheriff’s squad, according to investigators.
Law enforcement broke a window to get to him in his vehicle, and take him into custody.
Police said no one was hurt.
Charges are pending.
