The Sugar Shack seeing success in new locations

It’s been a busy summer for The Sugar Shack. They’ve moved downtown Virginia, to the former Loonies spot on Chestnut Street. And they’ve added an ice cream shop in Midway.
At the downtown location, owner Erin Powell told us, “It’s been going great. We got the bakery in, the food, and the coffee going.”
Downstairs, she’s got bakers busy making all of those made-from-scratch treats
The new ice cream shop is where there used to be a seasonal Dairy Queen.
“My goal is to expand that to a year round operation, and start to add food, when we can,” Powell added.

She’s been able to go from 5 staff to 25.
Advice for other entrepreneurs includes: ask a lot of questions! “And get feedback,” she added.
There is a chamber ribbon cutting coming up at the Midway location on Monday at 12pm.
