The University of Wisconsin Superior tries food from around the globe

The University of Wisconsin Superior’s World Student Association and the International Student Success Office held their World Kitchen Cooking Demonstration at the Pilgrim Luthran Church on Saturday November 16th.

UW-Superior international students cooked up recipes from their culture or country and shared them with community members, friends and family.

“We have food from a variety of countries. We have food from Japan, from South Korea, from Kyrgyzstan, from Nigeria, from Ethiopia, from Mexico,” said Vice President of the World Student Association Oreoluwa Sofolahan. “So many dishes here today, made by UWS students. We’re very excited to get a taste of all these authentic dishes. We even had to go to Minneapolis to get some of the ingredients that we needed. We’re just really grateful that it all turned out well.”

Along with the dishes from all over the world, were ones from right here in the Northland.

“We also have someone cooking from the U.S., cooking a dish from Wisconsin and Minnesota,” said President of the World Student Association Maelle Rihou. “So, we’re also excited to try some local foods.”

The World Student Association is planning for their next big upcoming event, the 25th annual Cultural Night, which is coming up in the spring.
