The University of Wisconsin held a livestream to make predictions looking toward the coming new year on Tuesday December 17th.

Director of UW Elections Research center Barry Burden took a stab at what the first year of the new Trump administration might look like

Jon Pevehouse, Mary Herman Rubinstein Professor and Development chair of the Department of Political Science took a look at foreign relations and tensions in the coming year.

Chief Economist at the Conference Board Dana Peterson looked ahead to economic strong points and points of concern for the new year. One thing she pointed out was that businesses are trying to become more productive through the use of technology.

“Businesses are trying to make their employees and their processes more productive, and lots of companies are turning to technology, automation, and AI,” said Peterson. “AI is not going to displace everyone, and at the same time AI is going to make more jobs.”
