WiSys SPARK symposium bringing Wisconsin’s brightest together

The WiSys SPARK symposium was held at the University of Wisconsin Superior on Thursday July 25. The event brought together all 13 University of Wisconsin Campuses to celebrate innovation and research.

The event featured the quick pitch state final, an innovation award ceremony, and a student research and innovation showcase. The event incooperated lots of networking opportunities for students.

“Sometimes it’s their first conference and it’s an opportunity for them to learn how to network, how to take their ideas and get them out into the marketplace, “said the President of WiSys Arjun Sanga. “We call it the SPARK symposium because we’re hoping that it’s sparking great ideas, sparking collaborations, and sparking opportunities for the faculty, the students and the alumni.

President of WiSys Arjun Sanga told us about the importance of applied learning experiences for students.

“They’re called high impact practices. The idea that you’re able to take what you learn in the classroom then have an experience that teaches you how to apply those lessons,” said the President of WiSys Arjun Sanga. “Those experiences have a high impact on students staying at the university and being very effective in the marketplace. Having this kind of activity is really important.”
