Three killed in head on collision in Koochiching County
The two vehicle, triple fatal accident happened on Sunday.
Two vehicles were involved in a fatal head on accident at 11 a.m. on Sunday while traveling on Highway 1 near Northome in Koochiching County. The vehicles involved were a red Chevy Silverado and a blue Ford F150.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the Silverado, with four passengers was traveling west bound on Highway 1 when it collided head on with the Ford F150 traveling east bound. The driver of the Ford F150, Joseph Michael Carlson, 27, and his passenger, 27-year-old John Clifford Corazzo were killed. The driver of the Silverado, Riley Walter Scheidecker, 24 was also killed. Two of passengers were taken to the nearby hospitals with life-threatening injuries, and a third passenger in the Silverado sustained non-life threatening injuries.
According to the State Patrol, the men in the Silverado were from Wisconsin and the two men in the F150 were from central Minnesota.
Koochiching County, Blackduck Ambulance, and Littlefork Ambulance all responded to the incident.
