Touchstone Honoree: Hibbing Tourist Center Senior Citizens

On any given day, it’s busy at the Hibbing Tourist Center Senior Citizens building off Howard Street.

When WDIO stopped by, there was a Bone Builders class going on, as well as pasty making. It’s all about keeping seniors active, engaged, and healthy, so they don’t become isolated.

A grant from the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation helped them buy new equipment for the kitchen, like a convection oven and commercial microwave.

Plus it helped pay for rolling planters, so seniors could do gardening without having to bend down to the ground.

They can use some help with the electrical set up and installation of the new appliances.

The foundation has recognized the center for their efforts as one of the 2024 Touchstone Honorees.

The Touchstone Celebration is coming up on Thursday, November 14th, at 6:30pm. Six honorees will be featured.
