Traffic changes this week for the Twin Ports Interchange

Drivers on I-35 in Duluth will need to be prepared for changing traffic patterns this week. According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) traffic will be reduced to single lanes at the Twin Ports Interchange starting Tuesday.

MnDOT says the hours for some of the closures previously released have changed so MnDOT crews can complete bridge and wall painting work during nicer weather. The lane closures will affect both directions of traffic on I-35.

Schedule and traffic change:

  • 6/18 – Southbound I-35 will be reduced to one lane from Garfield Avenue to 27th Avenue West between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
  • 6/19 and 6/20 – Southbound I-35 will be reduced to one lane from Garfield Avenue to 27th Avenue West between 6 a.m. and dark.
  • 6/20 – Northbound I-35 will be reduced to one lane from 27th Avenue West and Garfield Avenue between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
  • 6/21 – Northbound I-35 will be reduced to one lane from 27th Avenue West and Garfield Avenue between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m.
  • 6/21 – Southbound I-35 will be reduced to one lane from Garfield Avenue to 27th Avenue West between 7 a.m. and 12 p.m.

MnDOT officials say frequent closures are expected in the Twin Ports Interchange project area over the next few weeks. Motorists are encouraged to check the website at: https://www.dot.state.mn.us/d1/projects/twin-ports-interchange/
