Trans Joy Fest returns to Duluth
The third annual Trans Joy Fest is set to return to Duluth on Sunday June 9. The event is being held at the Park Point Recreational Area, which is a larger space compared to the past two years. The hours for the event will be 11am to 7pm.
“Everything is just so much bigger this year and our location is so much bigger. we’re just excited to bring that much more joy to the northland,” said Nykia Ronning, co-coordinator of Trans Joy Fest.
The organizer of the is Trans Northland, an organization set to bring awareness to the area along with support for the LGBTQ+ community.
“So, like the first year we were, perfect, its next month like let’s make it happen and, you know here we are. So, we’re so excited to be able to do it during pride month and yeah, it’s just going to be so good,” said Ronning.
“Just the support of like our friends our family our community, it’s just been wild. Just everyone has been so supportive of this event this year and we are so excited for it,”
This year’s event will include a vendor’s alley with over fifty trans or queer vendors from around the northland. Performances from over forty musicians, drag performers, podcasters, and more will be performing throughout the whole event.
Performers will include Venus Mars & All the Pretty Horses, Hanah Rey, Roadside Casino, Transcendence Cabaret, ThatQueerIsa, the Trangenda and Gender Stories, and more.
“Just the support of like our friends our family our community, it’s just been wild. Just everyone has been so supportive of this event this year and we are so excited for it,” said Ronning.
Organizers expect 1500-2000 attendees at the event on Sunday.
