Treasures from the David Wisted American Legion Post #28

“Treasures from the David Wisted Post #28”, is an event honoring veterans, their service and the history of Duluth. The Veterans Memorial Hall, is hosting the program at St. Louis County Historical Society’s History in a Pint series.
Local veterans Neil Atkins and Dwight “Deac” Nelson, from the American Legion Post #28, will present the artifacts on display. However, among with the artifacts, the American Legion post’s donation includes the first Duluth Hall of Fame collection. The collection also includes many prominent local leaders from 1932 onward.
Dwight Nelson explained “Treasures from the David Wisted Post #28” has unique significance to not just Duluth, but all of Minnesota. The David Wisted American Legion Post was one of the first American Legion Posts in Minnesota. The artifacts on display are not only a history of veterans and their service, but Duluth history.
“Our artifacts and archives that we are going to be donating to the veterans Memorial Hall here at the Saint Louis County Historical Society for love, for safekeeping and maintenance and repair.” Nelson said.
The “Treasures from the David Wisted Post #28” event is November 15th, and begins at 5:30pm at the Lake Superior Railroad Museum. Admission is free, but donations are welcome, parking is available behind the Duluth Depot complex.
The History in a Pint, is a series featuring stories of veterans and their experiences serving in the military. Audience members can enjoy a pint of beer or two from local brewers during the presentations.
