9-year-old boy rescued from BWCA

Update: According to the Cook County Sheriff, the boy was rescued from the BWCA by responders on Tuesday evening. His condition is still unknown at this time.

Original Story: Authorities with the Cook County Sheriff’s Office say search and rescue crews are attempting to locate where a tree has fallen down on a tent in the BWCA.

Crews say a 9-year-old boy was inside the tent when the tree came down. It’s unclear what injuries the boy sustained.

According to Cook County officials, crews are working to medivac the boy out of the campsite and say access by watercraft will be likely.
