Trees of Hope and HDC: Mobile Mental Health Response

The Human Development Center (HDC) offers multiple services at it’s locations across the Northland, providing help for anyone who walks in the door.

However, when it’s after hours, or an individual who needs help can’t get to one of HDC’s locations, they also offer a mental health crisis line that’s staffed 24/7.

“The individual on call will assess the risk, assess the need, and come up with a safety plan and ways to get them connected to the resources that they need,” said Kayla Polson, a Program Supervisor with HDC, “They can meet folks in the community. They can meet folks in the office. They can meet them at the hospital for advocacy, kind of whatever that person in crisis is needing at that time.”

HDC’s mobile response team is made up of mental health professionals as well as trained specialists that provides rapid responses to help those experiencing a crisis.
