Twin Ports Trailer Trash and volunteers help clean up Canal Park
The Twin Ports Trailer Trash provided some community service after a big job was rescheduled. The job would have required all hands on deck. Since there wasn’t a job to complete they decided to enlist volunteers to help out clean up Canal Park.
Bernard McCarthy, the owner of Twin Ports Trailer Trash said the snow melting significantly helps cleaning the tourist area.
“Things have slowed down a little bit. We had a big job rescheduled and I don’t like to keep my guys home and not have them working,” McCarthy said. “So I figured, why not give back to the city a little bit and do a little cleanup event. This is where all the tourists come. So let’s clean up the streets and make it a nice place for everybody.”
Some of the volunteers included families, and McCarthy said they will keep kids safe from any hazardous items.
“We have the gloves, hi-vis vest, garbage bags, buckets to put stuff in,” McCarthy said. “There’s some areas that [people] potentially find some things that aren’t so safe. like needles and stuff. So we do want everybody to be careful. We’ll give people instructions on how to handle that type of situation.”
For every volunteer that helped, Twin Ports Trailer Trash plans on donating a blanket to the Union Gospel Mission in Duluth.
McCarthy also said if people need help with any spring cleaning they are more than happy to lend a hand.
