Two cats rescued from attic fire in Superior
On Saturday at 5:38 pm, the Superior Fire Department responded to a fire at a single-family home on the 2300 block of Tower Avenue. When they arrived, fire crews found light smoke coming from a gable vent.
Upon investigation, crews found a fire in the home’s attic and quickly extinguished it. Crews then stayed on the scene for several hours, working to extinguish hotspots due to large amounts of cellulose insulation and other materials.
All three Superior Fire Department companies responded to the fire with a total of 16 personnel at the scene. Additional members were called in to assist with covering the city.
Two cats were rescued, and no civilian or firefighter injuries occurred. Superior Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Superior Police Department. Due to the extreme heat, Mayo Ambulance provided rehab and medical evaluation for firefighters on scene.
Damages to the home are estimated to be $50,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
