Two hikers rescued in Bear Head State Park
On October 12th around 6:11PM, a hiker called 911 for assistance getting out of the woods in the Bear Head State Park area.
Due to poor cell service, St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office’s responding deputies were unable to contact the hiker, so the St. Louis Rescue Squad was called to assist with the area search. St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center were able to get the GPS coordinates of the original 911 call, and the hiker was able to call 911 a second time and the two hikers were informed to stay where they were.
When deputies arrived at Bear Head State Park, they used a drone to locate the two lost hikers. St. Louis County Rescue Squad members were able to meet the hikers on foot and navigate them out of the woods.
Neither party were in need of medical attention but were not prepared to spend the night in the woods.
