Two injured in crash near Meadowlands Township Tuesday afternoon
Two people are recovering at a Duluth hospital after a head-on crash on Tuesday afternoon.
First responders were dispatched to the area of Highway 77 north of Highway 133 in Meadowlands Township at 4:32 p.m. to a report of a two-vehicle accident.
St. Louis County officials say a minivan with two female occupants was traveling northbound on Highway 7 and rear-ended a flatbed maintenance truck working on repainting roadway markings.
The driver of the minivan was taken to a Duluth hospital and is recovering from non-life-threatening injuries. The passenger of the minivan was airlifted to the hospital and is reported to have serious injuries.
The driver of the truck was reported to not have been injured.
Authorities say impairment is being considered as a contributing factor to the crash.
The Minnesota State Patrol alongside the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
