Freshman chooses UMD so he can try and get to the Olympics as a curler.
A freshman at UMD wants to get to the Olympics for curling, which is why he chose this school.
Birgen Enberg wants to run his own business someday, and his major at UMD is entrepreneurship.
But the freshman from Shoreview is also focused on something else while he’s in Duluth. Curling!
He’s a competitive curler, and he’ll be skipping Team Enberg out of Duluth in the U21 category. And he’d like to go to the Olympics someday.
“I have teammates at the Duluth Curling Club. And I know there’s a couple of Olympic teams that have come out of Duluth. The ice is amazing here,” he shared.

More perspective from UMD freshman about curling in Duluth
Birgen Enberg chose UMD so he could focus on going to the Olympics for curling.
Their first event is coming up in Madison in October.
