Students at UMD had the chance to learn more about volunteering opportunities, at the third annual volunteer fair.
It doubled in size compared to last year, with about 60 booths. The UMD University Honors Student Association and Head of the Lakes United Way organized it.
The Red Cross had one, and senior Drew Dietzler spent time speaking with potential future volunteers.
He told them that your time commitment can be what you can fit into your schedule. He shared what he did over the summer.
“I did some smoke detector installation. And then I hoped during the large apartment fire in Superior, directing resources to clients. It was a really fulfilling experience,” Dietzler added.
The Red Cross has deployed about a dozen people in recent weeks to places like Hawaii and Florida.
