Whether you’re looking to buy or sell, UMD’s Outdoor Educators annual Gear Swap offers quality outdoor gear for quite a bargain. This annual event doesn’t only offer a way for people to find quality equipment, it helps support UMD as a whole.

Sarah Nesheim a volunteer coordinator with UMD’s Outdoor Educators club. She says the Gear Swap is an essential fundraiser for the members.

“It’s a way for the club to get funds in order to pay for scholarships. To help students pay for outdoor programs, to get medical training, and other outdoor related costs that we have here at the club.” Nesheim said. “The GearSwap is a community event. it’s just a really great way to recycle some gear, get some people, get some more people outside with access to gear, access to cheaper gear than would typically be available.

For people selling their gear, 15% of the profits also goes toward supporting UMD’s Outdoor Education programs.

“We have tons of different gear. You can find something for everyone,” Nesheim said. “We have wetsuits, bikes, skis, snowboards, tents, backpacks, clothing, rain jackets, outerwear. Anything to do with the outdoors that you can imagine we will have here.”
