Miles for The Mission 5K coming up in Duluth

The Union Gospel Mission is hosting their first ever 5K called Miles for The Mission.

The first ever Miles for The Mission 5K is coming up in Duluth, and the Union Gospel Mission is so excited.

They support people with food, shelter, and hope, and this fundraiser will help them with critical funds.

Executive Director Katie Hagglund shares why they chose this month, and this route.

“So the mission has been here for over a hundred years and we really haven’t hosted an event that’s been primarily ours. We also wanted to honor the guests that we’re serving. And so this was just a perfect blend, a perfect opportunity for us to raise those critical funds, but also highlight the experience that a lot of our guests have during the second coldest month of the year. And so this 5K really mimics the walk that a lot of our guests take when they leave our doors at night after our dinner service and head over to the warming center in the West End,” she said.

She added they are grateful for the business sponsors who’ve already stepped up with support.

They will start at Leif Erikson Park, and end at Bent Paddle. It’s Saturday, February 22nd, at 11am.
