August was a busy month at Union Gospel Mission in Duluth. Executive Director Katie Hagglund said they served 7,373 meals. And numbers continue to increase, with more seniors, families, and kiddos.
They served a special one on Wednesday, when they hosted volunteers from local Lions Clubs.
The clubs from Duluth, Campus Club, Proctor, Carlton, and Two Harbors came together this past spring and provided funding so the UGM could secure a large grant.
That made it possible for the non-profit to purchase two new refrigerators, one new freezer, new deep fryer, and a convection oven.
“We are feeling very blessed and fortunate to partner with the Lions Clubs,” Hagglund said. “The clubs rallied around the mission.”
The mission serves lunch Monday-Friday, and dinner Monday-Thursday.
