Union Gospel Mission plans to relocate and expand services
For over 100 years, Union Gospel Mission has been helping people with food and shelter and hope.
They’ve moved six times. And they are looking at relocating again, within a block of the Damiano Center and Chum.
Katie Hagglund, Executive Director of UGM, shared more about the plans at Downtown Duluth’s Lunch at the Garden event on Thursday.
The plan is to have a Mission Engagement Center and bigger housing area. Right now they have 20 rooms. The new building would have 40.
The engagement center would include a drop in center, indoor showers, laundry services, a warming center, medical services, and bigger dining area.
She and others will be lobbying hard for funding at the capital.
The goal is to be in the new space in 2027.
