University of Minnesota Board of Regents election and search for new interim president
The Minnesota state legislature will meet on Monday 1st of May to elect four members to the University of Minnesota Board of Regents.
In a joint convention, the Minnesota house and senate will elect regents for the second, third and eight congressional districts including one “at-large” seat.
The twelve volunteer members of the board of regents each serve for a six-year term.
This is happing while the board continues the search for the university’s interim president after President Joan Gabel announced she would be leaving the role some weeks ago.
The Board has opened application for internal and external candidates to express their interest in serving as the University’s interim president.
The Board has determined that the ideal candidate will not intend to apply for the permanent president position so they may remain focused on the interim role.
The person selected as the University’s interim president will begin work on July 1, 2023.
