Wendy Fredrickson just wrapped up her first full day down in Florida. The Virginia woman is volunteering for the Red Cross and is focused on procurement.
“I’ve been a volunteer for seven years, since I retired. It’s a good way to volunteer my time,” she told us Tuesday morning.
She doesn’t mind being away from home for a couple of weeks. “It’s about helping. I’ve been to wildfires, hurricanes, and floods. The people on the ground are so appreciative of the help that we come and give. They’re so thankful,” Fredrickson said.
The American Red Cross serving Northern Minnesota is also sending down their emergency response vehicle with two more volunteers.
