Visit to Veterans on the Lake in Ely

A beautiful day to learn more about Veterans on the Lake Resort in Ely.

Minnesota Veterans Affairs Commissioner Larry Herke and State Representative Rob Ecklund visited on Tuesday.

It was to celebrate start of a scholarship program by the state for disabled Minnesota veterans to visit the resort near the BWCA.

Representative Ecklund introduced a bill for the $50,000 grant award to Veterans on the Lake during the 2021 Minnesota Legislative Session for expenses related to disabled veterans visiting the resort. It is a scholarship program to help defray the costs of disabled Minnesota veterans visiting the resort in winter and summer.

Veterans on the Lake also celebrated recents investments in the resort by the State of Minnesota, Department of Iron Range Resources, and St. Louis County. The following funds are being used for accessibility updates to the resort.
