Volunteers from the Coast Guard and 148th fry up turkeys ahead of Thanksgiving Day Buffet

Things sure smelled like Thanksgiving down at the DECC on Tuesday morning.
That’s because more than 50 birds went into the fryers, to be prepared for Thanksgiving Day Buffet fun. Meat will be made into the sandwiches given out.
Airmen from the 148th Fighter Wing joined a group from the U.S. Coast Guard to get the job done.
Commander Jarrod DeWitz, from Marine Safety Unit Duluth, said it was a community effort. “Russ Francisco from Marine General donated the frying pots, London Road Rental donated the propane tanks, and others like St. Scholastica and Monica Hendrickson helped make this happen.”
He said he was pleased everything went smoothly, and he’s hoping to see this grow next year.
