Walk for Life in Grand Rapids coming up next Thursday

Walk for Life is coming up in Grand Rapids encourages hope

A message of hope at the upcoming Walk for Life in Grand Rapids.

September is National Suicide Prevention month. The message is that there is hope, and help out there.

Organizers of the 7th annual Walk for Life in Grand Rapids want you to be part of this message.

“We hope people see a group like this, and realize they could make a connection a well,” shared Ashley Skelly, a co-organizer.

Mike Garner started this seven years ago. He is a mental health practitioner, and leads several support groups in the Grand Rapids area.

“We have a group that travels, and it’s called “If We Can Reach Just One.” It’s made up of mothers and veterans and bikers. And we like sharing these stories, to help others,” he said.

There’s another support group starting in Hibbing this fall as well.

“We want people to know it’s OK, to not be OK,” added Nicole Garner, another co-organizer.
