Washburn extends snow emergency
Washburn city officials have extended the snow emergency, now in effect until 6:00am Friday.
When a snow emergency is declared, all vehicles must be removed from all city streets, alleys, and parking lots to allow streets to be completely cleared without obstruction. Vehicles that are not moved may result in a ticket, and could be towed.
The Washburn Police Department says they will continue enforcing alternate side parking after the snow emergency expires.
The City says plow drivers have been instructed to clear streets and alleyways to full width, and will need to do a second round when the storm is over. Public Works staff will be finishing a round of plowing by noon Thursday, and will be returning at 10:00pm Thursday evening to clear the entire city.
Residents are asked to move garbage cans off the streets, along with vehicles.
