A dream has come true for the Whole Foods Co-op people, as they are celebrating their new solar array on the roof of their Denfeld location.
The 145 panels were made at Heliene in Mt. Iron, and provide about 25% of the energy needed there.
General Manager Sarah Hannigan said, “Whole Foods has been committed to our community for over 5 decades. Part of our commitment includes groceries. But the other pieces are being leaders in environmental impact and positive community change. We built our Denfeld store in 2015. When we built, we had a plan to expand our renewable energy production. And now we have our rooftop array powered up, and it’s exciting for us.”
Hannigan said they are grateful for the community partners that helped them along the way.
The Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce was on hand to help cut the ribbon.
