Wind and Rain: Measured reports from Tuesday’s storm
Very strong winds and heavy rain pummeled the Northland on Tuesday afternoon and continued into the morning on Wednesday. Thankfully, the system will gradually exit the region to the east today, allowing winds to improve and showers to taper off.
Equipment on the Blatnik Bridge recorded 65 mph winds on Tuesday evening and there were many reports of downed powerlines and tree branches. A empty semi-truck tipped while driving across the Bong Bridge, although the incident remains under investigation.
Strong winds helped fan the flames of a grass fire near Hibbing.
