Duke Tucker, Wisconsin Assembly District 75’s new Representative

The votes are in and the next Representative of Wisconsin Assembly District 75 is Duke Tucker. The Associated Press has called the race at 10:45pm on November 5th, 2024 with more than 75% of estimated votes in. Tucker received more than 17,142 votes (67%) getting the majority over Jane Kleiss, who won 8,289 votes (33%).

The Wisconsin Assembly District 75 encompasses Polk County and the southern portion of Burnett County. It’s a largely rural area, and it shares its western border with Minnesota.

In Polk County, the Associated Press reported an estimated 78% votes are in. Duke Tucker (R) has received over 13,000 (67%) and Jane Kleiss (D) garnered just under 6,500 (33%). Meanwhile, in Burnett County, AP estimate 66% of votes are now in, with Tucker winning an estimated 3,900 votes (68%), whereas Kleiss lost around 1,800 votes (31%).

Republican Representative Gae Magnafici, from Dresser, announced in March she would be retiring. Duke Tucker of Grantsburg, a first-time Assembly candidate endorsed by Rep. Magnafici. Tucker faced Democrat Jane Kleiss, of St. Croix Falls.

Born and raised in the Trade Lake farming community in Burnett County, Duke Tucker graduated from Grantsburg High School. Tucker went on to enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served in Desert Storm/Shield as a combat communications specialist.

According to Duke Tucker’s campaign website, some of the plans for the future are strengthening the penalties for smuggling drugs like fentanyl. Tucker also wants to give law enforcement the tools they need to effectively deal with this problem. Another goal Tucker has is sending the WI National Guard to help secure the border and making it against Wisconsin law to be an illegal immigrant.

Kleiss, who is a parent and has worked as a chef. She supports increasing access to childcare, healthcare and housing, protecting natural resources and abortion rights. Before discovering her passion for cooking, Jane Kleiss gained experience in a wide range of industries. Some including state and federal contracting, commercial real estate, medical and manufacturing software, but also plastics manufacturing.

In addition to running her personal chef business, Jane’s Just in Time Meals LLC, she has been active in the community. Kleiss also served for several years on the Board of Directors at Festival Theatre.
