Woman from Gilbert made more than 100 gnomes and distributed them around town
A Gilbert woman has been dropping off gnomes to over 100 homes and businesses this summer.
Kim Dertinger loves making gnomes. She takes fabric and wraps it around tomato cages, adding a nose and arms and other accessories.
She’s left more than 100 of them around the Gilbert area since this spring. Some are at homes, others are at businesses.
“I hope people see them, and it makes their day,” she told us. “I usually pop them on the porch. I’ve gotten caught a few times.”
She’s even heard of one making the rounds at a nursing home.
Dertinger estimates she’s nearly done with this labor of love for the year. No two gnomes have been the same.
She also really just enjoys arts and crafts with her grandkids.
