Two injured in St. Louis County ATV crash

Authorities responded to a reported ATV crash east of Hibbing on the evening of August 10.

The responding deputy found two persons at the scene of the crash on E. Hayes Road, near County Highway 25. The passenger suffered minor facial injuries and was transported to Virginia hospital for treatment.

The driver of the side-by-side refused medical treatment on-scene and was later arrested for DWI. After being brought to Hibbing Hospital, the driver was discovered to have internal injuries.

Authorities are still investigating the case, but have said that they believe alcohol and speed to be contributing factors in the crash.

Responding agencies include the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, he Cherry Fire Department, the Buhl Ambulance service, the Chisholm Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol.
