Casual Friday: Mike Smišek

Mike Smišek also known as Slope city is an artist who is creating music from hillside of Duluth. Best known for his visual artistry, Michael Smišek has also been carefully crafting music in recent years. The graphic artist behind Šek Design Studio and DLH Clothing writes songs that are woven into a blend of genres. From upbeat, windows-rolled-down soul to slow-building blues and folk, the element that holds Smišek’s music together is a sense of familiarity and rhythm. Ten tracks of Slope City demos are available on SoundCloud, with an album release in the works.

Mike stopped by the studio to give us a sneak peak at his music and also stuck around to answer some questions with Dann!

Mike is also performing during the Homegrown Music Festival this year which is Monday, April 30th through Sunday, May 7th.
