In some construction news happening today, drivers in Duluth should expect lane closures as crews begin repairs on the Northwest Passage Skywalk over Interstate I-35, between Fifth Avenue West and Lake Avenue.
During construction, traffic on the interstate will be reduced to one lane, with detour routes provided where ramps will be closed. I-35 will be restricted to one lane of traffic in both the northbound and southbound lanes through the construction site. The project is expected to last approximately two weeks. The Lake Avenue to I-35 southbound on-ramp will also be closed.
Later in the project, traffic will be shifted to allow two lanes of unrestricted traffic through the construction site on both the northbound and southbound lanes of I-35, while keeping the Fifth Avenue West to I-35 northbound on-ramp closed. The northbound frontage road ramp will then be reduced to single-lane traffic through the construction site.
Drivers should expect traffic changes in the area throughout the month of April and plan accordingly.
