The story is set in Baton Rouge, with the central murder occurring at a Mardi Gras party. The second book follows a couple who become key witnesses to the murder, bringing readers deeper into the unfolding mystery. Ban also revealed that she plans to release all five books in the series by the end of this year. “It’s been a long time coming. People have been very anxious to get the next one, so I wanted to have them all ready so we could just go one after another.”

Ban, who was born in Louisiana and has lived in multiple states, drew inspiration from her experiences. “I really wanted to do a series where I could dive into places I’ve lived, explore the culture, and showcase each location.”
