Indoor farmers market brings fresh food and community to Lincoln Park
Finding fresh produce in winter can be tough, but an indoor farmers market in Lincoln Park is making it easier while fostering community. Hosted by Community Action Duluth, the Winter Wednesday Market offers fresh food, local goods, and a welcoming space for neighbors.
“We run a market all summer and just couldn’t stop once fall hit,” said Kayla Pridmore from Community Action Duluth. “There’s so much amazing food year-round, and we wanted to keep the community gathering.”
Held at the Lincoln Commons building, the market features 10 to 12 local vendors with items like wild rice, apple cider, and microgreens.
“We always have a community meal, and this week there will be live music,” Pridmore added.
The Power of Produce program provides $4 in free produce for anyone under 18 or over 60, making fresh food more accessible.
Lincoln Park is often described as a food desert, making fresh food difficult to access. Pridmore adds, “We help ensure access to fresh food, especially for those without transportation or who use EBT.”
The Winter Wednesday Market is happening tomorrow from 3 to 6 p.m. at Lincoln Park Commons, 2424 West 5th Street. The final market of the season is on March 12th before the outdoor season begins in May. A free community meal is also available.
