Magic fills Clyde Iron with the kickstart of a witchery convention

A new convention to the Northland fills Clyde Iron's event center, Magickal Discoveries, thee Witchy Con of the North makes its debut.

For the weekend of November 1st-3rd, 2024, a new convention to the Northland is happening in Clyde Iron Works. Reiki Magick is hosting the first ever witchery themed event. Magickal Discoveries, thee Witchy Con of the North.

The convention will take place in Clyde Iron Work’s event center. It will go from Friday evening, November 1st, through Sunday the 3rd. The event will be filled with seminars, workshops, rituals, and 40 different vendors.

How the witchy con came to be?

Sheree Meier, co-owner of Reiki Magik, shared with me about why she wanted to make this convention happened and how it came to be today. From her own experiences in the past to how she desired to make a space for people to be themselves without worries.

“I’m a certified psychic medium. I am a Reiki master, and I have been a magic user for about 30 years and very, very honored and blessed that I grew up in a psychic household so none of this is new to me. The case is that a lot of people get shunned by their families, they get shut down, but that’s one of the reasons why I want to have this convention so those people can come here, be themselves, be who they want to be with no judgment.”

Tickets are $25 for a day pass, $45 for a VIP weekend pass, and $40 for the Friday night Seance. Children under the age of 12 get in for free. Magickal Discoveries has a myriad of vendors and events going on throughout the weekend. Sheree gave a glimpse of some of the vendors as well as their guest of honor, Witch Jodi.

“We have a variety of vendors from tarot readers, psychic mediums, stones, crystals, mama’s misfits which is, she makes ugly dolls, hand-sewn ugly dolls, just flipping amazing.”

“Our guest of honor is Witch Jodi from Midwest Witchery and Healing. She is a Lori Cabot witch. She has ties to Salem and she’s the one that’s going to be doing our opening ceremony and our closing ceremony. Plus, she is doing a seminar on animal magic.”

Times and Details of the Weekend

The event begins Friday night with a seance from local witch, Sheree Meier, from 8pm to 10pm. The continues through Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm. VIPs will gain early access an hour earlier than everyone else. Saturday has a night social hour from 6pm to 7pm. Followed by Yuya Mix, the one-man band providing entertainment from 7pm to 10pm. The event is open to everyone, and they welcome all who are curious to come and check it out.

“If you’re curious, come on down. We’re not going to bite. We will embrace you with open arms. We will show you the ropes. We’ll answer any kind of questions that you have. Everybody is entitled to their own spirituality so if you don’t believe exactly the way we do, that’s okay because that belongs to you, not to us. So come on down. We can make a work.”

Magickal Discoveries will have a cash bar all day both Saturday and Sunday, as well as possible gift baskets for attendees. For every full $25 that is spent with the vendor, you’ll get a free raffle ticket for a gift basket. And these gift baskets are roughly $200 packages with items such as Oracle cards, the Llewellyns, Sabbath books, a book by Tim Blair.
